Chief Executive Officer - American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN)

ASPAN

Chief Executive Officer

Pete Pomilio

The American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN), the leader in perianesthesia education, standards, research and clinical practice expertise, this week announced the appointment of Pete Pomilio, MBA, CAE, as its Chief Executive Officer, effective July 23, 2025. This appointment comes after an extensive, months-long national search and will coincide with the planned retirement of Kevin G. Dill, MBA, BS, who has served ASPAN as CEO for thirty years.

Under Dill’s leadership, ASPAN moved operations from a management company to create its own national office, streamlined its mode of governance, and established a solid financial foundation. The transition comes as the Society looks to expand its organizational capacity to further advance the perianesthesia nursing profession.

Pomilio brings two decades of non-profit executive leadership to ASPAN, most recently as the CEO of the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing and the Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates. Previously, he worked as CEO for the American Board of Clinical Social Work as well as the COO for the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance. Pete’s successful track record working with boards to grow membership, expand educational opportunities, and achieve long-term objectives via strategic planning makes him ideally suited for his new role at ASPAN. Pomilio holds an M.B.A. from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management and a B.A. in psychology from Rutgers University. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Mid-Atlantic Society of Association Executives and is a Certified Association Executive (CAE). Pete and his family reside in New Jersey, and he will be based at the National Office in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
